Demonstration of an Android app downloaded from the Amazon Appstore in Windows 11.
Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) is in development by Microsoft to allow Android apps to run in Windows 11.
Description[]
The Windows Subsystem for Android runs as a virtual machine under Hyper-V. It will support Android apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store and Amazon Appstore for Intel, AMD or Qualcomm processors. Apps that are only available in an ARM version for mobile devices can be run in emulation on a PC through "Intel Bridge Technology".[1]
Release history[]
Though it had been announced as a major feature of Windows 11, Android support was not ready in time for the first public release on October 5, 2021.[2] The Windows Subsystem for Android became available for testing through the Windows Insider Program on October 20, 2021.[1]
