Windows Mobile 2003 (codenamed Ozone) is a mobile phone operating system that is part of the Windows Mobile family developed by Microsoft. Released on June 23, 2003, it is based on Windows CE 4.2.[2]
Editions[]
Windows Mobile 2003 was released in multiple editions, which vary in their feature set and target audience.
Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Premium Edition is the standard version of the operating system, which includes all features intended for use on a standard Pocket PC model.
Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Professional Edition is included in Pocket PC budget models and lacks a number of features from Premium Edition, such as a client for L2TP/IPsec VPN.
Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition was designed specifically for Pocket PCs that include phone functionality.
A separate release known as Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphones was created for use on select smartphones.
Aside from these editions, an updated iteration of the operating system, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, was released in 2004.
