Microsoft Office Office Icon 2019 is a family of productivity applications from Microsoft, announced on August 1, 1988 at COMDEX in Las Vegas by Bill Gates, and officially launched for Microsoft Windows on October 1, 1990.[2] It was also made available for Windows Phone, macOS, iOS, and Android. A web browser-based version, Office Online, is also available.

Since Office 2013, Microsoft has promoted Microsoft 365 as the primary means of obtaining Microsoft Office.

In October 2022, Microsoft announced that all instances of the Office name would be replaced with Microsoft 365, starting with Office Online in November that year, and the individual desktop and mobile apps of the Office suite in January 2023.[3][4] However, Microsoft reversed this stance with the release of an Office 2024 preview build in November 2023.[5]
