Mystify Your Mind Screen Saver

The Mystify screen saver.

Mystify (originally known as "Mystify Your Mind") is a screen saver included with some versions of Microsoft Windows. It was first introduced in Windows 3.1 and comes with every subsequent version of Microsoft Windows up to Windows XP. The screen saver's file name is "ssmyst.scr".

Description[]

Mystify depicts a pair of polygons, each with four corners that bounce around the screen in various directions. The polygons are of two different colors, and their sides are made of multiple thin lines.

Settings[]

Each of the two polygons, named "Polygon 1" and "Polygon 2", can have their settings adjusted. Each can have a number of lines set, from 1 to 15, with the default value for each being 5. Each polygon can also be made invisible by unchecking the "Active" checkbox; disabling both polygons results in a blank screen saver.

There are two settings for changing the colors of each polygon: "Multiple Random Colors" gives the polygon a randomly selected color each time the screen saver starts, while "Two Colors" allows the polygon to alternate between two specific colors.

The 20 available colors are: Black (default for the left color), Maroon, Green, Olive, Navy, Purple, Teal, light gray (unofficial name), beige (unofficial name), light steel blue (unofficial name), floral white (unofficial name), Gray, Silver, Red, Lime, Yellow, Blue, Fuchsia, Aqua, White (default for the right color). Any two of these colors can be used for both parts of the polygon's color cycle; using the same color for both parts of a polygon's color cycle will make the polygon remain that color.

When "Clear Screen" is checked (the default setting), the polygons will move over a black screen. When "Clear Screen" is unchecked, the polygons will move over the screen as it appeared before the screen saver started, leaving a black trail as they move.

The screen saver's title bar has a Help button, which explains the function of each setting.
