Microsoft Tinker is a puzzle video game created for Microsoft by Fuel Industries. It was first released on September 23, 2008 for Windows Ultimate Extras, meaning it was available only on Windows Vista Ultimate.

Microsoft Tinker was later released for Games for Windows - Live on December 15, 2009. This version of the game is compatible with all editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows XP.

Overview[]

In Tinker, the player controls a robot to navigate through mazes. The robot must be guided to the end of the level by interacting with objects and overcoming obstacles.

You have a limited number of moves to make before the robot runs out of power. A move is any action the robot can perform, including walking, turning, and moving switches.

There are a variety of objects that must be interacted with, including pushable blocks, batteries to recharge your robot's moves, bombs that push objects off when they explode, cogs that need to be collected, and many more.

Levels[]

The Ultimate Extras version of Tinker has 60 levels split into three sets of 20. The Games for Windows - Live version has 160 levels.

Each level has three stars that need the player to meet more requirements, aside from completing the level. These requirements are to finish the level within a time limit, to have a certain number of moves left, and to collect all the cogs if there are any.

A custom Tinker level editor is available to download, which lets you create and play your own levels using objects from the game. However, it is only compatible with the Ultimate Extras version of Tinker.

Notes[]

Tinker is one of two games made for Windows Ultimate Extras, with the other being Hold 'Em.

The Games for Windows - Live version of Tinker had a glitch where one of the levels could not be completed perfectly due to the number of moves being -1. This was later fixed.[1]
