Microsoft Office v. X 
is a version of the Microsoft Office productivity suite released for Mac OS X. It is the successor to Microsoft Office 2001 and is comparable to Microsoft Office XP. It was announced by Microsoft on September 19, 2001.[1] It was released to manufacturing on October 24, 2001, and became available through retail stores on November 19, 2001.[2][3]
As it was the first version to be developed specifically for the Mac OS X operating system, Microsoft Office v. X is not backward compatible with Mac OS 9.[4] Support for Office v. X ended on January 9, 2007, after the release of the final update, 10.1.9.

Office v.X includes Word X, Excel X, PowerPoint X, Entourage X, MSN Messenger for Mac and Windows Media Player 9 for Mac; it was the last version of Office for Mac to include Internet Explorer for Mac.[5]
System requirements[]
- PowerPC G3 processor with support for Mac OS X.
- Mac OS X 10.1 to 10.5.8 (up to 10.6.8 with Rosetta).
- 128 MB of RAM.
- 196 MB of available drive space.
- CD-ROM drive or network connection.
- 800 x 600 or larger display with support for at least 256 colors.[6]
