Microsoft Cheese Terminator is a Sokoban clone developed by Zsolt Krajcsik and published by Microsoft in 1992 for Windows 3.x. It was offered as part of a promotion by Microsoft in Eastern Europe where users would receive a floppy disk containing the game after filling out and mailing a survey.[1]
History[]
In October 2015, a Polish user named Adam Kaczmarek filled out the survey for an old copy of Windows 3.1 and mailed it to Microsoft's Polish branch out of curiosity to find out what may happen.[2] In January 2016, Kaczmarek received a box labeled Cheese Terminator: Reloaded containing the original Cheese Terminator game on a floppy disk and a USB floppy drive.[3][4] Microsoft had also released the updated Cheese Terminator: Reloaded game online through the Microsoft Store for Windows Phone in late 2015, though it was available for only a short time.[5][6] Dawid Chróścielski, the developer of Cheese Terminator: Reloaded, built a WebGL version with the Unity game engine and posted it on his website on May 1, 2023 as a free-to-play browser game.[5]
