Microsoft Anna is Microsoft's text-to-speech engine first introduced in Windows Vista. It was also a component of Windows 7. Microsoft Anna was removed in Windows 8.
As the only pre-installed text-to-speech voice in Windows Vista and Windows 7, Microsoft Anna is the default voice used by Microsoft Narrator in those versions.
The Microsoft Anna voice is used in the Ease of Access Center to read the section Quick access to common tools aloud.
If the Microsoft Agent component is used by a program in Windows Vista without installing any other components, characters will speak using the Microsoft Anna voice.
