Jump Lists are available on all taskbar icons for applications. Their purpose is to allow easy access to common tasks for the given application. When the user right clicks on an icon (or presses their finger and drags upwards) a contextual menue is shown for that program. The contents depend largely on the individual developer.
Common Contents[]
All programs contain options to:
- Close all windows (if any are open)
- Pin/Unpin program from taskbar
- Open a new instance of the program
Program specific contents[]
Internet Explorer[]
- Pinned pages are displayed if you have pinned any items in the frequent list
- Frequent list is displayed (containing a list of frequently viewed web pages). These can be pinned by clicking the pin icon to the right of the name.
- Tasks – a new tab can be opened or a window using InPrivate browsing.
Windows Explorer[]
- Pinned folders are displayed if you have pinned any items in the frequent list (by default this list includes documents, pictures and videos libraries)
- Frequent list is displayed (containing a list of frequently viewed folders). These can be pinned by clicking the pin icon to the right of the name.
Windows Media Player[]
- Pinned playlists are displayed if you have pinned any items in the frequent list
- Frequent list is displayed (containing a list of frequently used playlists). These can be pinned by clicking the pin icon to the right of the name.
- Tasks – Resume previous list, Play all music.
