Jared Galen Bridegan (June 29, 1988 – February 16, 2022) was a senior design manager at Microsoft. He worked from Jacksonville, Florida, where he was shot and killed in February 2022.
Early life and education[]
Bridegan was born to Gaylord and JoAnn Bridegan in Warrensburg, Missouri. He moved with his family to Jacksonville, Florida at a young age and graduated in 2007 from the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, a magnet school in the area. In 2014, he received a B.S. in digital media with an emphasis in cinema production from Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.[1]
Bridegan married Shanna Gardner in April 2010 and they had twins. However, they divorced in 2015 and Gardner later married Mario Fernandez.[2][3] Bridegan met his second wife Kirsten through a dating app; they married in 2017 and had two children.[4]
Career[]
Bridegan was first hired in 2015 to become a senior UX (user experience) designer at Canopy, director of UX at Web.com, and later became the chief technology officer at Clean Simple Eats. He was most recently serving as a senior design manager at Microsoft beginning in October 2017.[1]
Death and murder investigation[]
On February 16, 2022, Bridegan was gunned down after dropping off his two older children with ex-wife Shanna Gardner-Fernandez. He was shot and killed as he tried to move a car tire that had been left on a residential road nearby. His two-year old daughter Bexley, who witnessed the incident, stated "Boom boom boom, Daddy on the ground." The Jacksonville Beach Police Department opened a murder investigation as Bridegan had been described as "the last person to have any enemies." A search was initiated for a 2004 to 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was recorded fleeing the scene.[2]
On January 25, 2023, Jacksonville Beach Police Department chief Gene Paul Smith announced that Henry Tenon had been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree murder, accessory after the fact to a capital felony, and child abuse. Tenon was already in custody since August 2022 on an unrelated charge. He had been renting a house owned by Mario Fernandez at the time of the murder. Mario Fernandez and Shanna Gardner-Fernandez are reportedly considered suspects in connection with the murder case.[5][6] They have retained high-profile criminal defense lawyer Henry Coxe III.[7]
