I'm going over the steps to give both Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 7.1 the updated Malgun Gothic, Leelawadee, Khmer and Segoe font families featured in Windows 8.x and Windows 10. I'm also going to tell the steps on how to give Windows 7 the newer Aero mouse cursors featured in Windows 8.x and Windows 10. Windows 7 and Windows 7.1 needs all 7 fonts replaced. Windows Vista only needs the 4 fonts replaced.
Installing the newer Segoe UI, Khmer UI, Leelawadee and Malgun Gothic fonts on Windows Vista, Windows 7. and Windows 7.1
- Copy the Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 7.1 install.wim and boot.wim files from your CD into your personal folder.
- Open the install.wim & boot.wim files using 7-Zip.
- Find the Segoe UI, Leelawadee, Khmer UI and Malgun Gothic fonts in your wim files you opened.
- Move the updated font files from your Windows 10 PC and copy them to replace the classic versions.
Installing the newer Aero cursors on Windows 7 and Windows 7.1
- Move the updated Aero cursors from your Windows 10 PC and copy them to replace the classic ones.
Finalizing the modified WIM files
- Copy your replaced boot.wim & install.wim files with the newer Segoe UI, Malgun Gothic, Leelawadee fonts, along with your newer Aero cursors, and paste them into the CD ISO file using PowerISO. Also, copy the newer Segoe UI font file into the sources folder of the CD and replace the classic version.
- Burn the modified CD ISO file using ImgBurn using a blank CD/DVD.
- When you use the CD to boot up on a computer, or on a virtual machine, when you install Windows Vista or Windows 7, you'll see your newer Segoe UI font and you won't have any problems installing.
