Advent Rising is an action video game developed by Glyphx Games and released by Majesco Entertainment for Microsoft Windows on Aug. 9, 2005 and Xbox on May 31, 2005 in North America and June 30, 2005 in Europe. The dynamics of the game reflect those of the Third Person Shooter, while the graphics utilize the Unreal Engine 2 engine.
Plot[]
At the start of the game we see Gideon Wyeth, the protagonist, to lead a group of human ambassadors to an encounter with an alien race called Aurelian. During the meeting Aurelian warns the humans of the pernicious danger represented by the Seeker, an alien race whose goal is to extinct the human race. Shortly after, the Seekers attack the space station where the meeting is taking place, but Gideon manages to escape and land on the planet Edumea with an escaping capsule.
On Edumea Gideon assists the soldiers in their battle against the Seeker, but finds out soon after the planet is destroyed by a meteor shower. The planet is evacuated and Gideon is set by the Aurelians to guide their ship. Afterwards, Gideon discovers that humans possess a kind of mystical power that has never been used, and decides to start training with the Aurelians to master them.
Gameplay[]
During the game you can take body-to-hand combat, use firearms or powers that will be unlocked during the game. The player has the ability to handle two weapons at a time; you can also boost them to increase their effects. Both mechanics of the first and third person are present, and there is also the possibility of using vehicles at certain levels. The plot of the game is divided into 6 chapters, excluding prologue and epilogue.
